A MESSAGE FROM THE OFFICERS

Dear HHS Debate Members:
Welcome to HHS Debate! Thank you for joining the club. Debate is one of the most distinguished clubs at HHS. We’ve always been a place for political discussion as well as a welcoming environment for newcomers. If you’re new to the club, know that hundreds of students before you have been in the same position and risen to become distinguished members.

We meet every Wednesday from 2:30 to 4:15 pm, alternating between Model Congress and Model United Nations. We discuss a broad range of topics, including police brutality, gun laws, violence against women, and international pandemic preparation. It’s an engaging, dynamic, and interesting activity that allows debaters to make lifelong friends and connections.

Since there are so many different parts to HHS Debate, it can get intimidating at first. Be sure to take your time exploring the website to learn not only how to improve yourself as a debater or the club's history, but also on ways to get more involved!

If you have questions or need any advice, feel free to reach out to any of the officers (click on a name and you'll be taken directly to their email):

Cynthia and Julia Zhang (Co-Presidents) Richa Shah (Vice President)
Shaan Desai (Mentor) Khiem Chirinos (Mentor)
Sheena Samuel (Mentor) Aravind Krishnan (Mentor)
Anika Batki (Clerk) Charan Koltur (Clerk)

Good luck in debate and we hope to see you soon! :)

Sincerely,
HHS Debate Officers 2020-2021
